Artists presented at the exhibition: Špela Petrič, Maja Smrekar, Saša Spačal, Robertina Šebjanič, Polona Tratnik. A number of artists in Slovenia are successfully working at the intersection of art, science and technology.
The concept behind the Live Object exhibition and its primary aim is to present five of the main representatives of bio-art. For many years, these artists have focused on investigating complex questions about contemporary society through their respective art practices that involve various degrees of exploration of living organisms and life processes. The exhibited projects will revolve around biological possibilities, whether by way of tissue culture methodology, evolutionary or environmental biology, plant neurobiology etc. The exhibition will draw connections between the artworks and various organisms on our planet; the cultural, (bio) political, chemical and biological realities of environments; and the influence of technological changes in society. The exhibition will therefore put a spotlight on these issues, especially on the affinity between humans and other species or agents inhabiting our planet.
