"I worked on the Trees Don't Know How to Run cycle for nearly 20 years. The first photographs revolved around landscape photography, but my goal was to take a different approach to the topic. I opted for a moving camera because trees "don't know how to run". I never expected to make excellent photographs! It was all about my interest in the subject and my personal attitude to trees!
As for the simple photo stories, I tried to add a narrative, a story, to the visual core. That being said, the stories are extremely plain and simple and based on a visual element.
The Green Black/White cycle initially revolved around the common dandelion and its unusual shapes. But then I realised that other weeds and grasses are just as interesting. I wanted to take accurate photos of them in an aesthetic and minimalist rather than documentary manner.
However, I took an even more minimalist approach in the Undulations cycle using nothing more than a piece of synthetic fabric. The idea was to achieve lighting effects while seeking aesthetic forms!
Passing is the cycle that has been in the works for the longest time and is yet to be completed." (Jaka Bregar)
