Hopes

18. 11. 2026–16. 12. 2026

One of the leading painters from the Prekmurje region presents a selection of works created between 2021 and 2026. His artwork reveals a distinctive approach to painting, characterized by the precise and deliberate layering of delicate translucent glazes, producing a rich interplay of colour and soft transitions between circular and elliptical forms.

”Hope” Painting Cycle

From misty mornings towards the light of hope.
M. Rajnar, 24 September 2012

The images painted in the Hope cycle are fields of energy that, through light and colour, reflect an atmosphere imbued with hope and positivity.
M. R., March 2013

Instrumental music without lyrics or words, where the “beauty” of the music itself gives the listener the possibility of creating their own interpretation of what they hear, is somewhat akin to what I seek to achieve through painting in the Hope cycle — through the illusion of light and colour.
M. R., September 2014

Negativity and dystopianism are reflected in the contemporary world in various ways and at different levels of human existence. And precisely for this reason, hope and optimism can serve as a source of renewed momentum in art.
Art should inspire optimism and hope!
I will challenge and oppose the despondency and dystopianism born of the horrors of today's world with optimism — and, if necessary, with utopianism as well.
M. R., 7 May 2017

How does one find one's way in a world where visual art, too, has become merely a form of commerce, serving to generate profit for the dedicated promoters of this elitist field?
Follow your own path and continue to believe in the ideals of your youth. Admire the painting you admired as a young person: the Renaissance, the Baroque, the Impressionists, the Modernists — and only rarely what we are witnessing today.
The weeds are spreading wildly and without restraint!
M. Rajnar, 15 July 2023
