Presentation of a graphic artist who creates distinctive works of art in various printmaking techniques such as woodcut, linocut and high copper engraving. The artist combines the classical printmaking medium with contemporary means of expression through his unique creative approach. His delicate expressive images, with distinctive curves, textures, shadows and the interplay of the fantasy world with reality, create the appearance of an expressive narrative.

Miha Erič was born on 29. 11. 1991 in Ljubljana.
Art and ilustration was his major interest in primary school. Later he was accepted on secondary art school for design and photography in Ljubljana, where he started to develop his style in ilustration and classic printmaking (dry point, woodcuts, etching). After succesfuly finished high school, he passed entrance exams for Academy of fine arts and design in Ljubljana. He graduated at the ALUO in Ljubljana from visual comunication design, ilustration. He is self-employed in culture and works in fine arts and music. Erič is acclaimed for a number of artistic and musical projects both nationally and internationally. As a graphic artist, he works in relief printing. He is a co-founder of Private institute for education, art, music and cultural  activities Orbita and artistic director of Cultural association and Gallery Salsaverde. Miha Erič is member of the council of MGLC International Centre of Graphic Arts. His work has been awarded with many international awards and recognitions.

The real "Americas" in print and other united countries and their events
Erič creates prints that are detailed past adventures and events. They are the real world. And also a fictional one. The landscapes within his prints can be pieced together from different geographical environments into a single, newly-created country.
His graphic representations take us into a fantastical world of imagination. Both his and ours. Into his coloured prints that are more real than reality. When I first saw them, I was reminded of the many artworks in books describing journeys and events. Both tragic and happy. And Erič depicts just those events.
This is America, I wrote a few months ago. This was my suggestion for the title of the present exhibition by Miha Erič at Bežigrad Gallery 1. Around that time, I saw his prints again, in Izola, on the ground floor of the Odeon cinema, which is also home to the Art Café Odeon.
America was once seen as the promised land. Those who had the means, both financial and spiritual, travelled to what is now the USA, the promised land, where you could live and quickly become wealthy or, at the very least, live comfortably.
The preciousness of Erič’s work lies in his meticulous printmaking. The prints also serve as important records of various printmaking techniques. His prints are home to both peaceful and restless nights.
America exists and America could be a fictional country. Even today, America can be everywhere, right where we imagine living. His prints are travels to imaginary worlds. America was the promised land and a synonym for a place where dreams of a better world become reality.
While I was writing this text, Drago Mislej – Mef and one of his songs came to my mind (lyrics by Drago Mislej – Mef and music by Danilo Kocjančič).
Some say there are no coincidences. But Mislej lives in Izola and Erič curates the Salsaverde Gallery in Izola, too.
