Opening and guided tour of the Biennale exhibition
Exhibition The Oracle: On Fantasy and Freedom at City Art Gallery Ljubljana
You are cordially invited to the opening of the exhibition The Oracle: On Fantasy and Freedom - the 36th edition of the Ljubljana Biennale of Graphic Arts, which has chosen the City Art Gallery Ljubljana as one of its venues. The gallery will be open from 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM, and at 1:00 PM, a marathon guided tour of the Biennale locations with curator Chus Martínez will begin at the City Art Gallery Ljubljana.
In the year of its 70th anniversary, the Ljubljana Biennale of Graphic Arts presents its 36th edition titled The Oracle: On Fantasy and Freedom. Curator Chus Martínez approaches art as an oracle—a symbolic place for reflection, foresight, and learning to live together in times of uncertainty.
The exhibition, which showcases works by artists—most of them created especially for this occasion—focuses on life as a space of in-betweenness, yearning for peace, freedom, and the common good. At the center of the Oracle stands an unusual prophetess: Žogica Marogica, a Slovenian puppet icon created by Ajša Pengov, symbolizing the age-old longing for autonomy and contemporary dilemmas of technology and control.
Artists presented at the City Art Gallery Ljubljana:
Saelia Aparicio, Nicole L’Huillier, Svetlana Makarovič, Ingo Niermann and Mayte Gómez Molina, Takeshi Yasura.
The exhibition takes place across five venues: MGLC Grad Tivoli, MGLC Švicarija, Museum of Modern Art (MG+), City Art Gallery Ljubljana, and Tivoli Park.
