group exhibition

Cosmos

24. 4. 2014–8. 6. 2014

Artists presented at the exhibition: Stefan Doepner, Vadim Fiškin, Aleš Dejan Knez, Marko Košnik, Marko Peljhan, Marko Pogačnik, Dunja Zupančič :: Miha Turšič :: Dragan Živadinov, 300 000 V.K. The visual and sound display comprises (mostly new) site-specific installations and representations of stages of works-in-progress by acclaimed artists, creators and visionaries of a “universal mind”, working for decades under the umbrella term “art in search of infinity” and focusing on subjects pertaining to the broad cosmological repertory.

“Born in stars, we live on earth as poets.” In a Hegelian twist, English poet, painter, and mystic William Blake's notion could also read born on earth, we live in stars as poets. Either way, it symbolically broaches the eternal questions of possible forms and manifestations beyond the horizon of perception, beyond the optical boundaries of vision extending into the depths of space, the cosmos, the universe, and of the subject and humankind being bounded by the dimensions of the Earth’s universe as a microcosm.

Contextualized at this group exhibition by the maxim “there is no art without science, no science without art” and the concept of das Umgreifende, the encompassing, the merging of art and science in artistic research and poetics ranging from the real, the borderline, to the metaphysical, makes us reflect on the discoveries concerning space-time and the unbounded possibilities of fictional worlds.

The visual and sound display comprises (mostly new) site-specific installations and representations of stages of works-in-progress by acclaimed artists, creators and visionaries of a “universal mind”, working for decades under the umbrella term “art in search of infinity” and focusing on subjects pertaining to the broad cosmological repertory; their works have featured in prominent international presentations of contemporary art. In the media of painting, drawing, photography, installation, music, and other sound and light media, these artists have established or contributed to new artistic practices and art trends involving holistic ecology, geomancy, social movements and individual development, postgravity art, neo-utopianism, and retro-utopianism.
