People from the Ljubljana Moor
Due to its preserved natural and a diverse cultural landscape the Ljubljana Moor is protected as a regional park. In its seven municipalities about 12 thousand inhabitants reside, whose lives are still closely connected to the Ljubljana Plain and local traditions.
Life on the Ljubljana Moor was even more traditional before the Second World War. A testament to this are the interesting photos collected among locals by our collaborators at the Krajinski park Ljubljansko barje. A selection of black and white photos from the exhibition will take you through the lives of people who devoted their time on Earth to the Ljubljana Plain.
You will discover how humans lived on the Ljubljana Plain in the past. In a time when boats were an important means of transportation on the Ljubljanica and when peat was dug and drained by hand.
On exhibition at the City Museum of Ljubljana from October 1 to 27, 2013 and later in other municipalities of the Ljubljana Plain.
