Touching Compulsory - Bugs for Blind and Vision Impaired
The exhibition of relief illustrations and tactile pictogramsTouching Compulsory – Bugs for the Blind and Vision-Impaired, and the acccompanying book are the result of activities of the Kaverljag Association.
Last summer Kaverljag Association invited young art students of art academies from Italy, Poland, Hungary and Slovenia to attend its workshop last summer. It connected the students with experts from the fields of Visual Communication, Illustration, and Biology and especially with blind and vision-impaired persons, to whom they intended to present the mysterious world of insects. The blind and vision-impaired find it particularly difficult to imagine insects because they cannot touch them physically.
A selection of the workshop’s results is being presented in the City Museum of Ljubljana. Designed by students of the seminar 110 of Ljubljana’s Academy of Visual Arts and Design.
