Plečnik and Prague Castle: guided tour of the exhibition with curator Ana Porok
Enjoy a stroll through the exhibition Plečnik and Prague Castle in the company of our curator Ana Porok, whose guided tour will shed light on Plečnik's design for the Prague Castle renovation, and on his connections with President Masaryk and his daughter Alice.
The Prague Castle renovation was entrusted to Plečnik by Tomaš Garrigue Masaryk (1850−1937), the first democratically elected of Czechoslovakia. The change of the castle’s character into a seat of democracy had a national educational purpose for President Masaryk. The architect was fascinated by Masaryk’s views on philosophy and social issues, his humanism, and ethics. A deep understanding and respect thus formed between the artist and the statesman.
