The Phenomenon of Plečnik’s Ljubljana presented on the BBC’s website
In the last few days, visitors of the British Broadcasting Company’s website, the BBC Online, were able to see a comprehensive piece on an architectural phenomenon – Plečnik’s Ljubljana. Ana Porok, our curator of the Plečnik House, also features in the piece as an expert of Plečnik.
The piece, titled 'Inside the stunning 'new Athens' of Central Europe', was published on BBC Online on Tuesday 15 March, and is the work of the independent journalist and video producer Martina Žoldoš, an associative of various international media.
“The city's uniqueness is in the humanistic approach to its design: open spaces, streets, parks, and arrangements created for all people, and of course [Jože] Plečnik's timeless architecture, which can’t be found anywhere else,” explained Ana Porok, curator for architecture and design at the MGML and head of the Plečnik House. The piece, which explains Plečnik’s concepts for Ljubljana and the inscription of his works to UNESCO’s World Heritage List, also features Dr. Peter Krečič, an expert on Plečnik’s oeuvre, who also highlighted that, “Plečnik arrived to Ljubljana with the great idea of transforming Ljubljana into the new Athens.”
