Poet Lili Novy and Ljubljana
When learning of Ljubljana's history, we usually talk about wars, kings, and emperors. But how does the city's past look through the eyes of a woman poet and translator?
Discover the untold stories of Lili Novy, who spent many of her creative years in Ljubljana, facing the hardships and cruelties of the 20th century. Our journey begins at Prešeren Square, by the statue of France Prešeren. From there, we will walk along Trubarjeva Street and cross the Butcher’s Bridge, passing by the former inn "Pri Kolovratu," where Lili Novy met many intellectuals, including the famous architect Jože Plečnik. Since women were usually not welcome in such places, her presence was often unwelcome.
Our story concludes in Rožna Dolina at Vila Zlatica, the home of the legendary Slovene mayor Ivan Hribar. Here, guests will be served pastries and refreshments.
