Yane Calovski & Hristina Ivanoska
The current project presents the Macedonian tandem composed of Hristina Ivanoska and Yane Calovski. The artists express themselves through performance as well as conceptual and participatory art with a view to preserving and recreating history. Energetic and dynamic, their works open opportunities for new ideas and further interactions.
Ivanoska builds her art practice through exploring various ways of individual activities against the established models and norms of conventional social and political systems. She graduated and completed her master’s degree at the Faculty of Fine Arts in Skopje and in 2014 enrolled in the doctoral studies at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna.
Calovski deals with experiential ideas that are often part of the site-specificity of contemporary culture and political geography. He completed his master’s degree in media and cultural studies production at the University of Linkoping in 2010. He also pursued his studies at the Centre of Contemporary Art Kitakyushu, Japan, (1999/00) and Jan van Eyck Academie, the Netherlands (2002/04).
The project belongs to the cluster of artist-in-residency programmes under which artists spend two months in residency in Ljubljana and complete it with an exhibition project.
