The Mother of All Struggles

The exhibition catalog accompanying the exhibition The Mother of All Struggles by internationally acclaimed artist Tomaž Furlan offers the most comprehensive publication on the artist to date. Spanning 155 pages, it combines documentation of the exhibition at the City Art Gallery Ljubljana with an overview of the artist's more than two decades of creative work.

Tomaž Furlan is widely recognized as a cynical observer and commentator on contemporary society. His work highlights human entrapment in the banality of daily routines, the absurdity, and the repetitiveness of modern life. His artistic practice includes sculptural objects, absurd machines, video performances, and spatial interventions, all infused with ironic humor and relentless critique. Furlan’s works focus on human labor and the exploitation of workers in an era of automation and robotization. Texts in the exhibition catalog were contributed by the curator Barbara Sterle Vurnik, Tevž Logar, and Nina Skumavc, who collectively shed light on Furlan’s unique creativity and social commentary.
