22 May 2026 at 7 p.m. | Film Screening and a Conversation with the Creators: An Apology for Modernity (IRWIN group, Igor Zupe, 2020, 70 min)

An Apology for Modernity is an artistic documentary in which commissioners, curators, artists, delegates, and visitors of the NSK State Pavilion in Time reflect on the meaning of European cultural and political heritage, its past and its future,” wrote director Igor Zupe about the film.

After the screening, these same questions will be revisited in the light of the present moment—almost ten years after the experience of the 57th Venice Biennale—together with members of the IRWIN group, Zdenka Badovinac, curator of the NSK State in Time Pavilion, and film director Igor Zupe. The discussion will be moderated by Hana Čeferin, curator of the current exhibition IRWIN: Photographic Work.

Attendance at the event is free of charge. Registration is required and can be made via email at prijava@mgml.si or by phone at +386 1 25 12 506 (weekdays between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m.).

22 May 2026 at 9 p.m. | LJUBAW X Mestni muzej Ljubljana

The documentary film Bridegrooms offers an insight into the work of the Slovenian art group IRWIN, founded in 1983 and composed of Dušan Mandić, Miran Mohar, Borut Vogelnik, Andrej Savski and Roman Uranjek. The film follows their retro-avant-garde artistic practice and their activities within the collective NSK (Neue Slowenische Kunst), which has significantly shaped contemporary art in Slovenia and beyond.

Attendance at the event is free of charge. Registration is required and can be made via email at prijava@mgml.si or by phone at +386 1 25 12 506 (weekdays between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m.).

24 May 2026 at 10. a.m. | Film screening: Time for a New State. The First Congress of NSK State Citizens in Time, Berlin (IRWIN Group, Igor Zupe, 2012, 65 min)

Time for a New State. First NSK Citizens' Congress is a documentary film capturing a historic moment when the founders of the NSK State entrusted its further development to its citizens. The film follows the first Congress of NSK citizens, held in Berlin in 2010, where delegates from different countries discussed the past activities and the future of a state that exists without territory—only in time. Shot in a cinéma vérité style with three cameras, the film captures debates, confrontations and decision-making processes that shape the further development of this unique artistic and political project. Directed and written by Igor Zupe and the IRWIN group.

Attendance at the event is free of charge. Registration is required and can be made via email at prijava@mgml.si or by phone at +386 1 25 12 506 (weekdays between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m.).

24 May 2026 at 11.15 a.m. | Guided Tour of the Exhibition IRWIN: Photographic Work with IRWIN

The members of the Irwin collective will guide you through the exhibition IRWIN: Photographic Work, which showcases their photographic projects. They will speak about the ideas behind their works, the background of the photographic projects, and the retroprinciple—their method of reusing and transforming historical artistic and political symbols. The tour will also reflect on photography as a space of reinterpretation, where the meaning of images is continuously redefined.

Attendance at the event is free of charge. Registration is required and can be made via email at prijava@mgml.si or by phone at +386 1 25 12 506 (weekdays between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m.).
