Plečnik Typeface

Designed on the Basis of Hand Drawn Letters by Jože Plečnik from the Archive Collection

2. 7. 2021–17. 10. 2021

New unique Plečnik typeface

The exhibition will reveal Plečnik's role in co-creating Slovenian typography. Plečnik was not only responsible for typography of numerous inscriptions on tombstones, monuments and facades of buildings, but also for graphic design of various print materials. Based on this, a typeface was created, which is not only a digitization of Plečnik's sketches, but also a reflection of current design trends based on the principles and forms of Plečnik's letter font.

The new typography was defined and developed on the basis of detailed research of Plečnik's life, his works and teaching principles. The exhibition will feature a typeface, which began with a review of the rich archive kept by the Plečnik house. Based on selected letter forms, sketches and certain typeface parameters were created. Noticeable forms and details of the letter font helped to create the unique Plečnik typeface.
