The second part of the retrospective exhibition by the Croatian conceptual artist Vlado Martek aims to show the shifts and limitations of artistic expression as well as the ways of presenting and transmitting art from the 1970s to present day.

Offering a comprehensive overview of Vlado Martek’s work from the 1970s to the present, the retrospective Exhibition with Many Titles continues and complements the edition staged last year at the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art Rijeka.

The Ljubljana exhibition, differing in content from the Croatian show to some extent, is the first in-depth presentation of Vlado Martek, internationally renowned Croatian artist in Slovenia.

The monograph titled Pripremanje za fotografiju (Preparation for Photography, T/N) is fully devoted to the art photographs by Vlado Martek, with the photo medium understood as a conceptual form. The book combines a series of works by the author, dated from 1970 to today, and offers a fresh insight into a vast segment of his production and reflection on art, the medium, text, and meanings.

The exhibition of visual, audio and interactive installations was produced by established female artists Špela Petrič, Maja Smrekar, Saša Spačal, Robertina Šebjanič and Polona Tratnik who have been active at the cross-section of art, science and technology for decades, within the broad and often controversial concept of “BioArt”.
