Mitja Ficko & Marko Jakše
From Sky to Sky
What and whom is it that the creative energy is connected with, why and how does it arise? The ones who create do not even concern themselves with it, great volumes indeed have already been written about it and about the art springing from it, volumes were written about artists who carry it within and turn it without.
The anticipation and unusualness impregnated with bewilderment that stems from touch, contact, connection, interconnectedness, as well as different strokes with a brush, different rhythms of fingers and hands, also the movement of the entire body of two painters, suddenly transform into a world of art beyond everyday creation; all these are special moments, the time and space of seldom found experiences and seldom encountered challenges. Academic painters Mitja Ficko and Marko Jakše touched and connected with one another during a certain shared time and at a specific place. In a series of paintings, mostly in large format and works on paper, they combined their creative energies and together opened the floodgates of all those forces which first made them run wild in the sense of fine art creation and then connected them into interlinked stories with coloured content, sprinkled with all their individual artistic traits. The end result are paintings bursting with condensed language of fine art which harmonized these images into a uniform composition and distilled content. At the City Art Gallery Ljubljana exhibition, the painters present a series of jointly created paintings and works on paper entitled From Sky to Sky that were already created in 2014 and 2015, while this series was expanded with new works from 2022.
