“Corporeality: An Imperishable Theme of Artistic Expression”

“Corpulent ladies in ‘light clothing’ who resist gravity and, sooner or later, bring spectators to a cheerful mood, followed closely by similarly good-natured carved bodies of anonyms, while the other side is laden with unwanted bodies that make you want to shut yourself off behind a barbed wire fence. With a wounded body here and there, integrated in social norms."

"Somewhere between these extremities, you experience Corporeality, the exhibition at the City Art Gallery of Ljubljana, which addresses its visitors as a mosaic of approaches, made by its eight authors, towards the theme of the body. The exhibition carries a signature of curator Dr. Sarival Sosič.”

“The theme of the body in the history of human visual expression is just as old as artistic expression itself. Many millennia have passed since humans first applied paints, and later tattoos, to their bodies, or began carving ‘alter egos’ in various media, or paint cave walls. This theme is imperishable and in newer artistic practices even radical,” wrote Vojko Urbančič in his article An Imperishable Theme of Artistic Expression, Delo Newspaper (in Slovene).
