After more than ten years, the exhibition "Cold Front from the Balkans" is another effort at staging a review of art from the Balkan region. The title of the exhibition originates from a saying that was once used to forecast the arrival of winter in Istanbul since the cold winds from the Balkan Mountains are the first harbinger that the new season is coming. Subsequently, due to the turbulent political and social events in the Balkan peninsula, which led to historical and political changes of great proportion, including wars, this saying became a phrase announcing the occurrence of (social) change. The exhibition will feature artists from ten Balkan countries: Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Montenegro, Croatia, Kosovo, Macedonia, Romania, Slovenia, and Serbia.

The exhibition, which is to open on Wednesday, 9 November, in Pera Museum in Istanbul, will feature the following artists: Maja Bajević, Dimitrije Bašičević – Mangelos, Luchezar Boyadjiev, Yane Calovski & Hristina Ivanoska, Mircea Cantor, Jasmina Cibic, Nemanja Cvijanović, Lana Čmajčanin, Braco Dimitrijević, Goran Djordjević, Vadim Fiškin, Tomislav Gotovac, Ion Grigorescu, Ibro Hasanović, Irwin, Laibach, Vlado Martek, Mladen Miljanović, Ivan Moudov, OHO, Adrian Paci, Dan Perjovschi, Lia Perjovschi, Mark Požlep, Kiril Prashkov, Anri Sala, Erzen Shkololli, Sašo Stanojkovik, Mladen Stilinović, Raša Todosijević, Slaven Tolj, Jelena Tomašević, Milica Tomić, Ulay, Sisley Xhafa, and Katarina Zdjelar.

The curators of the exhibition, which is the result of a partnership between Pera Museum and the Museum and Galleries of Ljubljana, are Alenka Gegorič, who serves as artistic director and curator at the City Art Gallery of Ljubljana and the Tobačna 001 CC, and Ali Akay, who is a curator and academic.
