Join us on our walk on the Roman road

On Saturday 2 September 2017, the Italian archaeologist Sara Zanni will begin her journey from Aquileia to Belgrade by following the ancient Roman path. Three days later, on Tuesday 5 September, she will be joined by Dr. Bernarda Županek, curator of Classical Antiquities at the MGML, and her co-workers from MGML. Together we will hike from Logatec to Ljubljana or, as it was called during Roman times, Emona.

The journey from Aquileia to Belgrade unifies two European projects: project Archest, which is devoted to developing an archaeological audience along the Roman route Aquileia – Emona – Sirmium – Viminacium, and the RecRoad project, which aims to reconstruct the Roman road connecting northern Italy with the province of Pannonia Superior and the empire’s border at the Danube. Everyone who would like to hike for a few Roman miles in good company are welcome to join the walk.
