From Friday, 29 May, until mid-September, the garden of Plečnik House will host the Library Under the Treetops. Visitors will be able to enjoy it free of charge during the museum’s opening hours: Tuesday to Sunday, from 10 am to 6 pm.

Now in its 22nd consecutive year, the project promotes a love of diverse literature and this year spans 26 reading islands across 15 towns and locations throughout Slovenia: Ljubljana, Jurovski Dol, Kanal ob Soči, Knežak, Kropa, Lendava, Log-Dragomer, Nova Gorica, Polhov Gradec, Polšnik, Rašica, Ribnica, Škofljica, Velika Planina and Vrhnika.

The fact that the Library Under the Treetops has found a home in the garden of Plečnik House is particularly fitting, as Jože Plečnik himself was an avid reader and collector of books. His library contains more than 800 volumes, amassed over the course of his lifetime. Its shelves hold art-historical studies, technical manuals, books on nature, construction, Far Eastern art, history, modernisation and much more. It is a diverse and thoughtful collection – much like the architect himself.

We warmly invite you to visit our Library Under the Treetops and discover the diverse literary worlds contained within its carefully selected books.
