Sound Ripples: A Meditative Sound Journey on the Theme of Water

Enjoy the soothing ripples of sound!

We invite you to join us on Tuesday, 23 May at 6 p.m. for Sound Ripples, a meditative sound journey on the theme of Water. On the occasion of the Ripples exhibition the sound therapists and musicians Sergeja Grögl and Ingmar Nieuwold have created a unique sound-meditative experience for the Jakopič Gallery. It will connect us with a deep inner awareness of the importance of water for our body and mind, as well as with our inseparable connection to planet Earth, which, like our body, is made up of almost three quarters water. Join us!

Both the ripples on the water and the sound waves propagate in a similar way, like a series of concentric circles emanating from a centre. Sound in water creates waves in geometric patterns, and the same patterns occur everywhere in nature. Every cell of the human body can thus be imagined as a chalice of water, entrained by the sound waves that surround our bodies. We only wish that these sounds and frequencies were as natural and soothing to our bodies as possible, which is unfortunately often not the case in today's world.

That is why we invite you to join us for this unique experience of soothing sounds, which is much more than the well-known sound baths. It is a harmony of sound meditative narrative, precise and carefully chosen frequencies of a soundscape in the background, while the majestic vibration of the gong flows to the front, followed by other instruments and a live musical creation of voices and strings.

Do not miss this unique opportunity to enjoy the soothing ripples of sound!

Entrance fee: 3 € (ticket price for the Ripples exhibition*) / Free of charge for the Friends of the Jakopič Gallery.
As places are limited, please RSVP in advance to galerija.jakopic@mgml.si.

*We recommend arriving 45 to 30 minutes before the event. This will allow you to visit the exhibition and ensure your prompt arrival to the event. We will close the gallery doors at 6 p.m. to enable a smooth performance. You might want to bring a blanket; drinking water will be served at the event.

About the performers:
Sergeja Grögl is a specialized pedagogue who has been introducing the healing qualities of sound into her daily work with deaf and hearing-impaired children for more than 20 years, integrating the playful yet therapeutic effect of sound and musical instruments into speech therapy sessions. She is a master of the gong, which is probably the most powerful therapeutic instrument, with remarkable effects of deep relaxation and support for transformative emotional and spiritual processes. In addition to the gong, she incorporates other therapeutic instruments such as crystal and Tibetan bowls, shamanic drum and flutes and other traditional instruments into her sound journeys.

Ingmar Nieuwold is a musician, transformational coach, breath and sound therapist. He creates original "soundscapes" that can stimulate our brainwaves and influence our mood, productivity and concentration. He also performs live, using musical instruments and his own voice, as well as harmonising, carefully selected sound resonances and his own original soundscapes. Through coaching and support with sound and breath, he helps individuals and groups to resolve past traumas and present stress, supporting them to focus, deeply relax, connect with their inner wisdom and find their own power within themselves.
