Visit one of MGML's main galleries, which is embedded in the vital contemporary art practices in Ljubljana and beyond and contributes through its programme to a wider social understanding of photography as one of the most expressive artistic, communicative and creative visual media. In February, Jakopič Gallery, in collaboration with the Dutch photography agency NOOR Images and curator Stefan Carini, opened the exhibition project Ripples: A Visual Diary of Water. The core of the exhibition is made up of photographs on the theme of water in various thematic sections, taken by renowned photographers and photographers of this successful agency, and its special feature is that it is made from materials that have accumulated in the gallery over 15 years of activity. At the end of June, it will be followed by the exhibition Mediations by the photographer Susan Meiselas, a member of Magnum Photos since 1976. Meiselas works in a variety of fields and countries, and the themes of her work range from war and human rights to cultural identity and domestic violence. We are closing the year 2023 with an exhibition on Slovenian women artists in the period 1850-1950, which we are organising in cooperation with the City Museum of Ljubljana.
