Aleksandra Gačić: From the Voyeur's Gaze to Visual Sovereignty
Interweaving Ethiopian Art and Contemporary Literature in the Imaginary of Aïda Muluneh
Drawing on modern Ethiopian art and contemporary Ethiopian literature, which will serve as a framework for the interpretation of motifs and themes in Aïda Muluneh's imaginary and work, Aleksandra Gačić's lecture will think more broadly about the socio-political contexts in which art is produced through a range of Ethiopian theorists. In parallel, the lecture will shed light on important aspects of Ethiopian production of knowledge, art and literature.
