Sound Explicit is a cycle of live experimental sound and audio events that represent a wide variety of genres – from sound research and various forms of improvisation to experimental sound projects. The cycle was first conceived in 2003 in order to support independent research and creative composition in the field of sound art, predominantly those forms which are rarely included in Slovenian programme offerings. Sound Explicit presents many premieres, as well as one-off events which are only organized once within a cycle.

PRIMOŽ SUKIČ
After graduating from the Academy of Music at the University of Ljubljana, Primož Sukič (Koper, 1986) continued his studies at the Darmstadt Music Academy. In creating, he focuses on expanding the expressive possibilities of classical and electric guitars. He regularly collaborates with composers Uroš Rojko, Michael Maierhof, Matej Bonin, Lester St. Louis, Seijiro Murayama, and Tom Jackson. He is actively involved in various ensembles: IEMA (Frankfurt), Ictus and Ensembel 21 (Brussels), Neofonia (Ljubljana), Soundinitiative (Paris), and Vortex (Geneva). In 2016, he released his first solo CD entitled Splitting, featuring songs for acoustic and electric guitar.

PODGORNIK/KUMMER duo
Utilizing a large panel of extended techniques, by means of repetitive melodic items and relentless ostinati, the music of Pogornik/Kummer duo merges rawness and expressivity ranging from minimalism to ritualistic world music through avantgarde jazz and math metal.
Pia Podgornik (Klagenfurt, 1993) is a Slovenian saxophonist. She studied at the Ljubljana Music and Ballet Conservatory and at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam, Netherlands. She participates in the precept.concept.percept project and leads the international Lore Quartet and Bad Tempered duo. She has performed in various ensembles across Europe, Asia and Africa. Attending master’s studies at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam, drummer and composer Tancrède D.Kummer is involved in jazz and Dutch improvisational scene. He is the leader of Otherwise We Are Lost (0.WA.L), Fear O’She, and NAME NO ONE MAN bands.

DRAŠLER/JACKSON/THOMPSON trio
The trio led by Bistrica ob Sotli‑born and Vrhnika‑based drummer Vid Drašler includes two London‑based musicians, Tom Jackson (clarinet) and Daniel Thompson (guitar). They met in Ljubljana on the album recording of their British musical collective CRAM. All three are engaged in improvised music and perform regular concerts both home and abroad. Vid Drašler also participated in several theatre projects and collaborated with the Kombo group led by Zlatko Kaučič.
