Sound Explicit is a cycle of live experimental sound and audio events that represent a wide variety of genres – from sound research and various forms of improvisation to experimental sound projects. The cycle was first conceived in 2003 in order to support independent research and creative composition in the field of sound art, predominantly those forms which are rarely included in Slovenian programme offerings. Sound Explicit presents many premieres, as well as one-off events which are only organized once within a cycle.

ŠIROM
The guiding principle of the Prekmurje-Tolmin-Karst alliance Širom is to interweave diverse musical traditions and approaches with a pure musical‑craftsmanship imagination. Iztok Koren, Samo Kutin and Ana Kravanja are using more than ten instruments and at least as many musical forms. They are creating their own unique expression, homogeneous in style, ranging from folk music to contemporary acoustic rock meditations. Širom is making contemplative, sometimes sharp music.

A.M.P. Trio
A.M.P. Trio is a newly formed group of young musicians whose style calls to mind the giants of jazz, such as Mihály Dresch and István Grencsó. As representatives of the younger jazz generation of Hungary, they are discovering new approaches in improvised music. The trio combines the quiet freneticism of piano lines by Máté Pozsár, supported by Szilveszter Miklos’s drums and the sophisticated playing by bass player Péter Ajtai. The result is free sound and mature improvisation. A.M.P. Trio has been greatly influenced by pioneers of the Hungarian jazz scene and the uncompromising attitude of the avant-garde movement of the 1960s. This energetic and creative trio is one of the more radical ensembles on the Hungarian music scene.
