The OHO Award 2011
The OHO Award was established in 2005 by the P.A.R.A.S.I.T.E. Institute in collaboration with the Foundation for a Civil Society and with the support of the New York based Trust for Mutual Understanding. The aim of the OHO Award is to support young visual artists and to take them from a marginal social position to a more central role in society, with an emphasis on a positive context based on openness and creativity.
The OHO Award is a major international fellowship award program for young visual artists till 35 year, including media of painting, sculpture, drawing, installation, photography, video, new media and performance.
The OHO Award has been named in honor of the OHO Group, an important neo-avantgard group of Slovene artists who were active in the late 1960’s; even today, this group continues to be a model and inspiration for young Slovene contemporary artists. Just as the OHO Group brought new openness, freshness, and dynamism to the world of art in the 1960’s and also succeeded in penetrating the international art scene, so it is our hope that the OHO Award will exert a positive influence on the work of young Slovene artists and open doors for them into the international art world.
The nominees of the OHO Award 2011 are Beli sladoled, Pila Rusjan, Ištvan Išt Huzjan and Nina Kočar. The jury has selected Beli sladoled to win the OHO Award.
