Maruša Meglič presented her exhibition Warm Heart Faint of Heart in London
"Warm Heart, Faint of Heart" is the result of a two month residency programme at Tottenham Hale International Studios, London. An exhibition by Maruša Meglič, that was on display from 22 to 24 September in Chalton Gallery, flirts with the idea of being a visual parable. Combining installation, found objects, two-dimensional and three dimensional works, the exhibition adopts an animistic approach to inanimate objects and materials, imbuing them with story telling, didactic qualities.
The act of coating stones brought from Slovenia in an artificial golden color sets a beginning for further exploration of visual and narrative qualities of artificial surface. The artificial golden surface itself is conceived as a cataclysmic antagonist, confronting the artist's own self-reflexive internal monologue. The artist extracts clues from personal events, instincts and emotions to re-visit and re-work her responses to the materiality of different surfaces and found objects, composing a new narrative.
