Cohabitation at Rue des Fabriques 43
“From the simple starting point of cohabitation, the exhibition addresses numerous themes. We can notice references to tenancy conditions, architecture, cohabitation and communication. The most obvious among the themes is everyday life. Huzjan stresses that cohabitation reveals many important questions,” emphasized Iza Pevec during her interview for Radio Slovenia 3 with Ištvan Išt Huzjan, one of the eight artists currently exhibiting at the CC Tobaćna.
“When we talk about this unit of ours, sort of a family unit really, on how we can restore family relations of some kind when several people live like together. This is so universal that it can represent a starting point. To actually go live ‘on your own’ and so forth, this is already a basic experience. For some this already happens when they start attending university, or whenever. For us this is more specific, as these are pilgrimages to some (art) centres … Although I feel that this basic idea is so broad, so universal, and one you can use to address a very wide audience. Much can be recognised within these relationships and the exhibition,” adds Ištvan Išt Huzjan.
