91st ADC and 10th ADC Young Guns

11. 4. 2013–5. 5. 2013

Art Directors Club (ADC) is a non-profit membership organisation with headquarters in New York which has been holding competitions for the best solutions in design and advertising since 1920. This year’s selection is showcased at the 91st ADC exhibition, which is now visiting Slovenia for the fourth time. At the same time, the 10th ADC Young Guns exhibition is also on show.

The exhibition showcases the selection of winners chosen by an international jury. The work on show is classified under advertising, integrated projects, design, animation, photography, illustration, interactive design and students categories, and comprises print and TV ads, interactive design, corporate design, photography, package design, student work, illustrations, posters and advertising campaigns.

In 2012, the international jury awarded 241 gold, silver and bronze prizes and special mentions to winners from 24 countries. Among this year's gold prize winners in the Design category a special mention goes to the projects The solar annual report (agency Serviceplan Gruppe für innovative Kommunikation GmbH & Co. KG, Germany, client Austria Solar, Austria) and Anamorphic mirror (agency ART+COM, Germany, client Deutsche Bank AG, Germany). Highlighted are also several projects of the New York Times Magazine agency (USA), especially What happened to air france flight 447?, which was awarded the gold prize in the Design category, and On earth as it is in heaven, that received the gold prize in the Photography category. Amongst the recipients of the prizes in the Illustration category the project What's in a beard print campaign (agency BBDO New York, ZDA, client Procter & Gamble / Gillete Fusion ProGlide, ZDA) stands out.

The Art Directors Club is an association of leading creative professionals engaged in visual communications around the world. ADC members share the vision of its founder, Louis Pedlar, who brought together his colleagues in advertising in 1920 to raise the reputation of their profession and to judge advertising art by the same stringent standards as fine art. For over ninety years, ADC members have taken up Pedlar’s challenge by funding programmes to connect, motivate and elevate creative professionals around the world who work in advertising, design and interactive media. Apart from the ADC prizes, the club also annually awards the Young Guns prize, which is aimed at promoting younger generations of creatives (aged 30 or under, with at least two years of professional experience) and facilitating progress and development in their creative careers.
