Apprentice/Master. In Dialogue with Conceptual Art

4. 2. 2016–6. 3. 2016

The exhibition presents works by young artists/students Vitya Glushchenko, Anna Kryvenko, Balázs Máté Tóth, Adriaan Luteijn, Mikko Waltari and the artist groups IRWIN and OHO.

Curated by IRWIN, the exhibition will feature some newly created works in situ, works in progress and existing works, comprising sculptures, photos, installations, projections as well as conversations.

Apprentice/Master project

How do you create a bridge linking art school graduates to the professional field? How do you build a network as a young artist? Encounters, cooperation, networking and visibility for a new generation of artists are the points of focus of the Apprentice/Master project.

Apprentice/Master aims to create a space of inspiration and collaboration between young artists in their graduation year and more experienced contemporary artists. With its infrastructure, the project offers an intensive exchange between artists, art schools, exhibition spaces and the fields of activity. This creates an ever growing international network for emerging artists; a trusted but exciting place for the freshly graduated, to help them position themselves in an expanding art world, and to create an inspirational base for everyone interested in the arts.

After seven successful editions in the Netherlands and Belgium, the Dutch Apprentice/Master project (previously: Leerling/Meester project) is now expanding. In 2015/2016 Kunstpodium T organizes its second International edition. During the project talented young artists in their final year of university, from various art schools internationally, are linked with a renowned contemporary artist: the Master Artist. During the project, groups of four students from different schools from all over Europe and one participating institution in China will work together and exhibit along with their Master Artist. These will result in a series of 26 exhibitions in the United Kingdom, Spain, Lithuania, Belgium, Slovenia, Czech Republic, Hungary, The Netherlands and Ireland.

Before the opening, a display of works by seven AVA students who have already participated or will participate this year at various Apprentice/Master exhibitions will be held between 26 and 31 January. These shows are taking place in Tilburg, Hasselt, Nottingham, Post, Prague, and Sala. Participating students: Vanja Erjavec, Evelina Hägglund, Zala Kobe, Nina Oblak, Gregor Rozman, Luka Savić, Sanja Vatić.
