TAKLE MAMO … / SO IT HAS COME TO THIS… #6

Manuel Fabris: Leaps

TAM-TAM’s Street Gallery

8. 1. 2019–4. 2. 2019

At the sixth exhibition of the "Takle mamo … / So it has come to this…" cycle Manuel Fabris is presenting the "Fabris" triptych. His artistic practice is marked by the desire to unify the seemingly opposite approaches to visual art: the digital approach perceived by the artist as cold and exact and the manual approach as the one that is spontaneous and direct.

Manuel Fabris’ work process includes transferring the images from a painting into the digital and the other way around. He works with collages and analogue as well as digital layering of sketches. Through manipulation of the latter they gradually lose their original form, allowing the artist to build works that are more complex and more abstract. This process is usually concluded on canvas, this time, however, it stops a step sooner. The images end up on posters and are therefore brought closer to their original street inspiration found by Fabris in graffiti art.

Manuel Fabris is a MA student at Academy of Fine Arts and Design (University of Ljubljana). He participated at several group exhibitions, including ODD at Zelenica (Avtonomna tovarna Rog), Bridges: Nova slika at Lauba Gallery in Zagreb, ALUO: Paperology at Equrna Gallery and Urban Playground at DobraVaga Gallery where in 2018 his solo exhibit UNTITLED was held as well.
