Lucija Kržišnik: mesoamericas y yo
At the third exhibition of the "Dogaja se / It is Happening" cycle Lucija Kržišnik is presenting the illustration triptych "mesoamericas y yo".
It is hard to write about an author whose passion for art and humanities with such lightness steers her gaze into a variety of directions yet remains its focus. Fine arts may be the primary field of the author’s expression, her home, the basis of her reflection. Be it a brush-stroke, a photography composition, scenographic layout or the choice in costume design, her aesthetics will clearly hold all the threads of the concept, thoughts and feelings behind it.
Her sensibility and the smile on her face can only be threatened by indifference towards the fellow human being. Courage and commitment are her companions through occupied areas and refugee camps where she is being faced actively and on her own initiative with repeated human rights abuses, marginalised parts of the society and consequences of civil wars.
The triptych mesoamericas y yo, exhibited in the Street gallery in the author’s hometown of Ljubljana, is a part of a broader series of sketches, paintings and impressions outlining the author’s experiencing of the recent expedition throughout Mesoamerica. A visual hommage, translating her love of colours, fragrances, sounds, people, culture and tradition of the area into two dimensions. mesoamericas y yo actually serves as proof about how much beauty is hiding under the artist’s sensibility towards her surroundings, and how much the fight dictated by your own essence is actually worth.
