TAKLE MAMO … / SO IT HAS COME TO THIS… #5

Luka Lavrenci: I’ll Do the Push-ups, I’ll Wear the Makeup

TAM-TAM’s Street Gallery

11. 12. 2018–7. 1. 2019

At the fifth exhibition of the "Takle mamo … / So it has come to this…" cycle Luka Lavrenci, a graphic designer and illustrator is presenting the "I’ll Do the Push-ups, I’ll Wear the Makeup" triptych.

Luka Lavrenci uses drawing as the basis of his creative work. However, it is the process of upgrading and embellishing the drawing that makes it unique. According to him, he needs to have at least five pages full of sketches, which he then combines, renders as 3D visualisations, and further enhances them digitally. He refers to his work as constructing worlds – which draw the viewer into themselves to be experienced. He makes a comparison to his childhood enthusiasm for video game covers, which invited him to try deciphering the content. As well as poetry and literature, he names video games and their late-1990s and early-2000s development as his major creative inspiration. His work has been marked by his multidisciplinary approach; whenever possible, he seeks to make use of new concepts and technologies in each project.

Luka Lavrenci (1997) is a graphic designer and illustrator. For the past three years, he has been a freelancer working for clients from Slovenia and elsewhere. The majority of his projects are illustrations and music posters, but he has also done experimental VR projects. This year, three of his posters were ranked among the Top 100 Posters at the Graphic Design Festival Scotland. He also exhibited at this year's, Type Director’s Club in Tokyo and Kyoto. In 2017, he collaborated with Dorijan Šiško on the Tribe exhibition staged in Kino Šiška.
