Tomažič graduated in 1924 and remained with Plečnik as an assistant until 1930, when he became independent. In 1932 he passed the Professional Competence Examination and became a certified architectural engineer, upon which he opened his own studio in Ljubljana. At first, Tomažič followed Plečnik's architectural view very closely, but with his first independent works he demonstrated a complete reversal and understanding of modern planning problems.

Fran Saleški Finžgar (1871–1962) served as the priest for the parish of Trnovo from 1918 to 1936. A deep friendship developed between him and Plečnik.

As World War I came to its end, the architect Jože Plečnik returned to Ljubljana from Prague with an idea on how to organise the area from the Kresija Palace to the Dragon Bridge.
From the student’s architectural project, conducted in the academic year 2017/18 in the design studio of Prof. Jurij Sadar, at the Faculty of Architecture, University of Ljubljana.
HISTORY OF THE FUTURE:Archetypes of Plečnik's Architecture

The exhibition presents a series of photographs, axonometric drawings, and abstract models made from wood, epoxy resin, and plaster – of the so-called “archetypes” in which students condensed the ideas from select examples of Plečnik’s architecture. With archetypes students created a rich architectural vocabulary that helped them form new projects of different scales.

Plečnik’s Unrealised Projects for Ljubljana

The exhibition will unveil how would the city look if Plečnik was able to realise four major metropolitan projects for Ljubljana: New Town Hall, Butchers’ Bridge, monumental octagon with an impressive tower on the Castle Hill and Cathedral of Freedom in Tivoli Park.

Jože Plečnik was not just a master of monumental architecture; he was also an exceptional designer of sacred objects. The exhibition at the Vatican Museums is dedicated to the latter, as it presents 33 of Plečnik’s liturgical vessels.

The exhibition is part of an interdisciplinary project of students from the Department of Textiles, Graphic Arts, and Design at the Faculty of Natural Science and Engineering, a collaboration of the KIGT and KOTO (Chair of Information and Graphic Arts Technology and the Chair of Textile and Fashion Design) and the Plečnik House.
Plečnik's National and University Library

On 29 January 1944, an airplane crashed into the National and University Library (NUK) in Ljubljana, and badly damaged Plečnik’s just completed "pride of Ljubljana". The 75th anniversary of this disastrous event is commemorated at the Plečnik House with an exhibition, made in collaboration with the National and University Library.

Plečnik and the Sacred

On the basis of original written records, sketches and correspondences, as well as completed projects at home and abroad, the Plečnik and the Sacred exhibition will strive to present Plečnik's idea of what is sacred. Plečnik's concept of "sacred" is not only linked with his religious beliefs, as it also encompasses ideas of morality, rectitude, righteousness and, after all, architecture itself.

Plečnik House: the architect's experimental hotbed

Plečnik House to be presented in Prague! The Study and Documentation Centre Nobretov in Prague will be hosting an exhibition on the importance and renovation of Plečnik House, a tribute to the memory of the Slovenian architect Jože Plečnik.

Ljubica Čehovin - Suna: How to Draw a City?

The exhibition project How to Draw a City? connects two exhibition sites: Plečnik House and Kresija Gallery. The common denominator of both exhibition spaces is Ljubica Čehovin - Suna, a designer whose projects constantly address questions of cultural and natural heritage, values, patriotism, and identity.

Jože Plečnik and Otto Rothmayer, a Slovenian and a Czech architect, collaborated closely in the renovation of Prague Castle, during which time a friendship formed between the two.

The exhibition Plečnik on Brioni is on view at the Croatian Museum of Architecture - HAZU from 18 October until 30 November 2017. The exhibition, which is complemented by an overview of projects Plečnik completed or at least planned in Croatia, is part of the Plečnik Year 2017 and a collaboration of the National and University Library of Slovenia and the Plečnik House.

With Plečnik's year coming to its end, visitors to the Plečnik House can now visit the temporary exhibition Plečnik and water: the fountains in the city, which gives them a peek into the original materials of the Plečnik Collection and the architect's plans for various projects connected with water.

Summer in the Plečnik House is offering you an exhibition titled simply JOŽE. A collaboration of the DobraVaga Gallery and Plečnik House, the exhibition presents the newest production by younger artists, whose artworks focus on their intimate perception of the Slovenian architect.

Ljubljana, a City with Plečnik’s Signature

During this summer, the Jakopič Promenade, also known as the Plečnik Promenade, in Ljubljana's Tivoli Park will be the venue for one of the main exhibitions dedicated to architect Jože Plečnik. The photographic exhibition Ljubljana, a City with Plečnik’s Signature will be on view from 15 June to 3 September 2017.

Plečnik and Prague Castle: Apartment for the First President of Czechoslovakia

Spring in the Plečnik House is in the sign of our collaboration with the Archives of Prague Castle. The final product of this collaboration, the exhibition Plečnik and Prague Castle, focuses on Plečnik’s designs for the rearrangement and equipment of the private presidential areas in the Prague Castle, and on important personal connections Plečnik had with Masaryk and his daughter Alice.
