A retrospective of the past ten years of a prominent non-objective artist and creator of contemporary visual art, distinguished by subtle monochromatic imagery and original objects. The exhibition unfolds a multilayered artistic practice, from paintings to constructed compositions of metal objects.

An annual exhibition of poets that combines literary and visual arts into a holistic image using various  prints and typographies. The presentation of the artist, who through photography and memory—by sequencing and layering short diagonal lines on the base surface—creates an image of decaying nature, portrays the world within its ecosystem, its degradability and transience, and addresses us on the importance of shared coexistence.

An interdisciplinary artist recognised for her use of modern media and technology presents a carefully conceived project installation. Exploring new forms of expression, she focuses on designing objects that are often integrated into site-specific spatial compositions.

The exhibition From Sketch to Puppet, organised by Bežigrajska galerija 1 in collaboration with Ljubljana Puppet Theatre and a Theatre Glej, presents the works of Silvan Omerzu – creator of drawings, puppets and set designs for puppet shows, and director of the following performances: Stories of Little Charlie by Rotraut Susanne Berner in adaptation of Saša Eržen; Pinocchio by Carlo Collodi, The Devil and the Shepherd directed by Jan Zakonjšek and  Little Red Riding Hood of the Grimm brothers.

The selected works by Milan Golob, painter, physicist and philosopher, present an overview of his artistic expression and video/audio creations. His work reveals a variety of approaches, from small-format paintings characterized by circles to pictorial images focusing on text.

The exhibition is part of a series of exhibitions by artists presenting sculptures from a variety of materials. Jiří Bezlaj, one of the most prominent Slovenian sculptors, showcases his most recent works - objects made of paper, wood and iron.

Presentation of a graphic artist who creates distinctive works of art in various printmaking techniques such as woodcut, linocut and high copper engraving. The artist combines the classical printmaking medium with contemporary means of expression through his unique creative approach. His delicate expressive images, with distinctive curves, textures, shadows and the interplay of the fantasy world with reality, create the appearance of an expressive narrative.

The exhibition entitled From the Collection of W. B.: Protocol (Presence of J. P.) will feature ten paintings from 2023 and a video from 2019. The works on display are linked by a painting concept in which the author perceives time as a painterly competitor.

This year’s exhibition presents a fine selection of sketches, puppets, stage elements and photographs created by Robert Smolík, a Czech scenographer who designed several puppet shows in Mini Teater Ljubljana, including Fran Milčinski - Ježek's The Little Sleepy Star, Svetlana Makarovič's The Mishmash Bakery, and the Brothers Grimm's The Wishing-Table.On display are 83 puppets, 24 stage elements and objects, and three stages.

The new series of paintings is inspired by videos and microscopic photographs of neurons damaged or altered due to the use of various substances or neurodegenerative diseases. 

The collection gives an impression of a personal archive of dreams, hopes, secrets and regrets.

Miklavž Komelj sees his artwork as a bridge between painting and poetry that is lined with various verses or text fragments of his own or other authors’ texts in different languages and from different periods of time.

Matej Čepin’s paintings depict landscapes where time seems to have stopped and where people and plants barely exist. They look like frozen photographs or film frames of human shapes that look right at us, yet past us.

Blažka Križan works with cutting various monochromatic paper surfaces. In this way she creates longitudinal undulating shapes which are then sequenced to create integral forms that together constitute a similar wavy image.

The exhibition From Sketch to Puppet, arranged jointly by Bežigrad Gallery 1 and Mini Teater Ljubljana, revolves around the art of puppetry in The Nutcracker, a puppet show based on the story written by Prussian author E.T.A. Hoffmann.

The Manganese series and the Outlines series.The painter’s more recent medium-format artwork was created daily in the form of artistic diary entries. Her focus is on exploring nature and the artistic medium through drawing – her main means of expression.

An exhibition overview of works from the last forty years of Janko Testen's career and the painter's second presentation at the Bežigrad Gallery 1 since 1982. The works on display show his artistic world of object and non-object images and have their artistic starting point in paintings from the 1970s.
