You are warmly invited to attend the opening of the Manca Juvan: The Valley exhibition at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, 4 February 2025 in the Match Gallery, Ljubljana. Manca Juvan is an internationally acclaimed and awarded photographer, photojournalist and documentary video/film maker. The exhibition explores the impact of industrialization and industrial pollution in the middle Soča Valley in the broader context of everyday life and the beauty of nature.

The Japanese artist, who lives in Celje, uses her personal history to develop a multimedia exhibition which shows the intricate unravelling of the threads of love and intimate relationships under the challenging conditions of contemporary consumerism, which most members of the artist's generation face with existential uncertainty and constant lack of time.

The exhibition will be inaugurated by PHD Vladislav Šćepanović, Director of the Museum of Contemporary Art of Montenegro.

On Tuesday, November 18, at 7 p.m., you are invited to the Match Gallery for the opening of the retrospective of the renowned Japanese artist Yoshio Nakajima, titled Art Is Always the Next Possibility. Be on time, as the opening will be accompanied by a performance by Nakajima and artist Chica Fukushima.

In collaboration with the Department of Asian Studies at the Faculty of Arts in Ljubljana, we invite you to a lecture by Dr Marotti, Professor of History and Chair of the East Asian Studies MA IDP Programme at UCLA, titled Seized by Art: Grasping Untimely Art and Politics in the 1960s with Yoshio Nakajima. During the lecture, Dr Marotti will examine the pivotal yet overlooked career of Nakajima and consider the relations of art, politics and violence in the 1960s, as well as the very possibilities of art.
