Marjan GumilarCUTS
4. 4. 2019–2. 6. 2019
Rather than a classic retrospective overview, this exhibition of Marjan Gumilar’s painting thematically revolves around one of the main recurring and constitutive elements in his art, a correlate in the process of constructing the pictorial field – the cut as the functional prerequisite of montage in various positions and pictorial relations, initially a part of his early collages and a method of work in his recent visualizations.

Iztok SitarUnder the Red Star
30. 1. 2019–24. 3. 2019
Reality knows no tranquility. A work of art either moves toward presenting reality or away from it in order to forge its own parallel reality: like any visual work of art, the comic lies within these principles of presenting any reality.

Tugo Šušnik, so it seems, could not have defined his forty-four years of artistic activity in the public eye in a more radical manner and with more self-irony than he did by means of the metaphorical title he selected for his overview exhibition, which is personified by the famous character of Quasimodo from the novel Notre-Dame de Paris by Victor Hugo.
