Damjan Gale: The Architect of Light

Accompanying "Damjan Gale: The Architect of Light" exhibition is the first overview monograph about Gale’s work, containing over 180 black-and-white and colour photographs.

"It was black-and-white photography – in which shadows are virtualy an expression of light – where Damjan Gale reached the pinnacle of his mastery. In his photographs, architecture can clearly be seen as the art of shaping solid and hollow spatial bodies as perceived in light. The entirety of architecture is thus revealed in its details in which light is captured at a given moment. Gales´s photography proves that black-and-white photography facilitates a more intense personal experience, requiring from the photographer a profound sense of perceiving and regarding the world." (Prof. Janez Koželj in the monograph accompanying the exhibition)
