On the Other Side. Volume 2: Identity
The papers in the second volume of the "On the Other Side" publication offer a view of Slovene photojournalism through the prism of identity. The presented chapters do not share a unified approach – they do not cover the same time periods, some focus on the work of individual photographers, others on publications. And some consider photojournalism beyond the confinements of the photoreportage.
What they do share is the overall understanding of the characteristics of identity processes and awareness of the positioning of photojournalism within them. Their diversity at the same time serves as a warning and an invitation. A warning that such complex topics should not be reduced to simple narratives. And an invitation to a wide and multi-layered interpretation of visual material. The photoreportage is dedicated a prominent place in the second part of this compendium, the catalogue part, where photoreportages can be found reproduced in their original form, including accompanying texts and limitations of reproduction of photographs in the press.
